CHIROPRACTIC CARE

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the third largest primary health care profession in the western world and works on the principle that a good spinal alignment and function is necessary for a better health and well being. Chiropractors specialize in the detection, correction and prevention of spinal joint dysfunctions, so called subluxations, and their affects on the nervous system and the body.

A vertebral subluxation results when joints of your spinal column, due to numerous reasons, lose their normal motion and initiate an irritation to the sensitive structures in the region and your nervous system. Subluxations may or may not be painful; however they have the potential to affect your health.

The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain. The moving bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissue and organs throughout the body.

It is important to remember that not all spinal subluxations are due to physical traumas and injuries. Other factors such as chemical and emotional disorders can also lead to spinal dysfunctions or subluxations. These are common and do not always produce pain or other obvious symptoms.

A chiropractor spends most of his 4 year full time training studying these causes, practicing and mastering removing these dysfunctions and helping patients prevent re-occurrence of such problems. This is why a chiropractor is the only registered health professional who has the skill to detect and correct vertebral subluxations in your spine.

At Clark Road Chiropractic Center, our highly trained Doctors will provide you with an explanation of what things may have undermined your health or resulted in you having spinal subluxations and following removal of these will arrange for an educational, rehabilitation and exercise program concerning your ailment so that you can prevent future re-occurrence of such disease and maintain good health.

Why Get Chiropractic Adjustments?
Many things can lead to a vertebral subluxation. Some of the more common causes:

  • A vertebra going out of place (“misalignment”) because of a slip or fall (i.e., “macrotrauma”).

  • The entire spine misaligning globally due to poor posture.

  • Joint swelling caused by damage done to the intervertebral joint.

  • An inflammatory response caused by a poor diet, lack of pure water or psychological stress.

  • Osteoporosis or degenerative changes of the spine or intervertebral discs.

  • Trigger points and tight back muscles that pull the vertebrae out of place.

Chiropractic is a way of keeping healthy and being

at your best for:

You might be surprised to know that Chiropractic care can provide relief from not only back and neck ailments, but many types of soft tissue injuries such as tendinitis, bursitis and extremity disorders such as ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand problems.

  • Geriatric conditions

Unfortunately, many people are brought up believing that if they do not experience any symptoms then they are well and healthy and hence, no need to consult any health practitioners. As the old saying goes "If it's not broken, why fix it?"

Pain is a very poor indicator of your health. Quite simply, pain is a warning that some part of your body is not working as well as it should, however many health issues take a long time to manifest themselves with pain. The problem is: "Pain is the last thing to come, the first thing to go!" so do not wait until the pain comes! Have a check up to make sure potentially harmful events to your health are removed in due time. As Chiropractors, we look to treat the cause and not just the symptom.
